Punjab Child Rights Commission Takes Action on Stray Dog Issues

The Punjab State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (PSCPCR) has issued a directive to the local government and rural development departments to conduct a comprehensive census of stray dogs across all cities. This initiative aims to address the increasing incidents of stray dog attacks on children, including the tragic deaths in Mullanpur Dakha, Ludhiana.

In response, PSCPCR has mandated the immediate implementation of sterilization programs to control the stray dog population and enhance public safety. This move aligns with the Animal Birth Control Rules, 2023, as notified by the Union Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying.

At Barking for a Better Punjab, we commend this proactive approach and remain committed to supporting sterilization efforts, raising awareness, and promoting responsible pet ownership to ensure the safety and well-being of both animals and communities.
